Raise good water first and then good fish will follow!

from ECO WATER China

What water quality means for fish is like what air pollution means for humans: when the basic environment of life is destroyed, the extinction of the community is not far behind.

Because of the importance of water quality to the growth of fish, experienced farmers are generally more sensitive to the trend of water quality thanbeginnerThe reason is simple: the quality of a pool of water is related to the survival of the entire fish farm, which is more related to a year of hard work and harvest.

In general, the ideal water quality should be

1. The water is light green or tawny, and the water is thick but not muddy;
2. Transparency: 20–30 cm;

The plankton in the water is mostly healthy under good water quality conditions, and the dissolved oxygen level is good, which can ensure the healthy growth of fish in their natural environment. However, once the water deteriorates, these conditions will be destroyed.

So, what changes can be used to judge the deterioration of water quality? The degree of water deterioration can be determined by four typical color changes based on the various degrees of water pollution.

1. Blue-green: The quality of the water deteriorated slightly.
Fertilization, excessive baiting, or the accumulation of pollutants in the water will promote the growth of a large number of blue-green algae with a strong fertility tolerance in the water. Floating a layer of membrane on the surface of the water, the water is turbid and blue-green, which is a typical feature of the deterioration of water quality.

 2. Grayish yellow: sub-severe deterioration of water quality
The application of excessive and unfermented organic fertilizer or too much silt pond after entering the summer will produce a large amount of oxygen consumption and produce methane, H₂S, ammonia nitrogen, and other toxic, harmful gases, causing the plankton and various algae in the water mass to die and produce toxins that are grayish-yellow and have a smell.

3. Dark green: serious deterioration of water quality
Due to the continuous application of organic fertilizer or supplement of domestic sewage, blue-green algae repeatedly form a "mass reproduction--loss of vitality--group death" vicious circle, resulting in dark green and turbid water, severe hypoxia, inhibited aquatic plant growth and reproduction, and a more noticeable odor during the summer high-temperature season.

4. Water quality that is black, brown, and extremely degraded
The old pond has not been dredged for many years, and the deep humus is too much, so new water cannot be added. Summer heat generates a large amount of methane and H₂S gas; the water turns black and brown; and the water surface floats a layer of viscous foam, emitting a strong odor. In such a body of water, the biological cycle has almost ceased!

Of course, in addition to the above, the water quality changes before the symptoms appear.

  1. The water is too fat, showing dark green, blue-green, and brown;
  2. The water is black or red.
  3. The water has a foul smell and a lot of foam.
  4. The PH value of the water is higher, and the abnormal metamorphism is more harmful.
  5. At night, fish and shrimp do not gather when the oxygenator is operated;
  6. Fish and shrimp eat slowly and eat less.

Raise good water first, and then good fish will follow! This is a farmer's good understanding of water.
