* Anti-freezing of breeding facilities and equipment

Check supporting facilities such as reinforced scaffolds and bait-casting machines. For farms with imperfect heating conditions, use double-layer plastic film to cover in advance to enhance the thermal insulation effect of breeding facilities. Check the breeding water pipes and other facilities and equipment, and do the anti-freezing and cracking work of the water pipes in advance, such as installing warm straws. Check and repair farm oxygen generators, aerators, heat preservation or heater equipment, and prevent power outages, oxygen outages, and extreme low temperatures caused by severe winter weather.

*Dissolved oxygen management

The continuous freezing rain and snow in severe winter weather can easily form an opaque ice layer on the aquaculture water surface, causing hypoxia in the sub-ice water body. In addition, heavy snow or blizzard will cause the photosynthesis in the pond water to weaken, phytoplankton consumes oxygen, and the fluctuation range of dissolved oxygen in the aquaculture water increases, which can easily cause hypoxia in the cultured fish and shrimp. It is recommended to do the following:

a) Control the breeding density, ensure sufficient dissolved oxygen, and avoid deterioration of water quality;

b) Fishing at the right time in advance to reduce breeding density and water body load;

c) Sweep away the ice and snow in time to ensure that the light penetrates into the water;

d) In icy waters, pierce through the ice to form a number of vent holes, which are agitated from time to time to prevent re-freezing, to ensure that the water body can be in contact with the air, and under-ice oxygenation can be carried out if conditions permit.

* Pond water level management

The height of the water level in the pond in winter has a greater impact on the farm species. As the water temperature drops, aquatic products gradually migrate to the middle and lower layers of the pond. New water should be added in advance to increase the water level by 30-50cm. Increasing the water level of the pond can not only slow down the rate of decline of water temperature and improve the adaptability of aquatic products to the environment, but also prevent aquatic products from causing frostbite or stress when the water temperature suddenly drops below 5°C.
